Director’s Note
The Trickster character exists as a central figure in American Indian storytelling. Every tribe from every corner of North America sports a version of this lovable rascal: Coyote, Rabbit, Raven, Raccoon and Spiderwoman, to name a few, do their best to get away with mischief only to discover that often, the jokes are on them. Like parables, these playful and unpredictable stories teach us how to act and how not to act. We sit together now in the heart of Sioux County, a decade into the 21st Century; it seems only right that we spend an hour together delighting in humor and wisdom of the original residents of our prairie home.
